In July 2014, a group of representatives from the Responsible Gaming Association of New Mexico attended the 28th annual conference sponsored by the National Council on Problem Gaming. 2014 marked the first year that the New Mexico representatives from the Association were asked to provided a presentation for other advocates for responsible gaming from around the nation, who all gathered in Orlando, Florida, for the event.
During the two day conference, representatives from New Mexico delivered a presentation titled “Responsible Gaming Association of New Mexico- Casinos in Action”. Included in the presentation was RGANM’s documentary, which you can watch here.
The group was asked to give a presentation on the collaborative efforts of the state’s Native casinos, who organized the association in 1994 as tribal casinos began forming plans for gaming. It is thought that New Mexico is the only state with such an association; other states’ handle responsible gaming activities and outreach through each individual casino property.
